MEET THE CANDIDATES
FORUM RULES
1. Each candidate will use a microphone and will stand when he or she addresses the audience. When they are not speaking, a stool will be available for each candidate.
2. The moderator will call the audience to order at 7pm and introduce the RI Voter Coalition.
3. The candidates will be introduced first by the moderator and each will be invited to make opening statements. Opening statements are limited to 5 minutes.
4. Two members of RIVC will move about the room with microphones and solicit questions from the audience. Each audience member gets one minute to ask a question. The question can be directed at a particular candidate or candidates. Each candidate has up to two minutes to respond. If a question is directed to one candidate only, the moderator in his discretion can invite other candidates to also answer that question.
5. The moderator will recognize the audience members and will keep time. The moderator will use colored cards to make audience members and candidates aware of their elapsed time. (Yellow, 10 second remaining; Red, time is up, stop talking)
6. Candidates are barred from asking questions of one another, but of course they may comment on previous answers of other candidates.
7. Candidates may not use or distribute any printed or other material during the forum. A table will be made available inside the room for campaign literature.
8. The audience will be provided with index cards on which to write questions. The cards will be collected and reviewed by RIVC. Several questions will be selected and provided to the moderator to use at his discretion.
9. The forum will be video taped for broadcast on public access television by We the People of RI. The We The People of RI Free-Speech TV Show is a 6-time award winning television production, and double nominee for best show of the year.
10. Still photography is welcome however; RIVC requests that anyone wishing to make a video recording of the event request prior approval from RIVC.
