January 8th 2010 Forum

We’ve scheduled a forum for January 8th.  This event will feature the Governor’s race.  Patrick Lynch and Frank Caprio have confirmed.  Rory Smith confirmed and then completely dropped out of the race.  Lincoln Chaffee can’t decide and Steve Laffey is hiding!

That’s quite the line-up!

The Rhode Island Voter Coalition is a non-partisan alliance of groups and individuals wherein interested voters can vet the candidates who are campaigning for office in next year’s election.  While making today’s announcement Mr. Wright said “RIVC was organized in the wake of the recent Tea Party and 9-12 Movements to coordinate the efforts of newly energized voter groups with those of longer standing good government organizations.”  He went on to list Rhode Islanders for Immigration Law Enforcement, the Rhode Island Statewide Coalition, Operation Clean Government, We The People of RI, and a number of local Tea Party Coalitions as participants in these events throughout the 2010 political campaign.   The object is to get started as early as possible so that voters have as many chances as possible to see and hear the candidates from whom they’ll have to choose.

Candidates for the November event were invited regardless of their party affiliations or their status as incumbent or challenger.  “We are a non-partisan group of citizens who have determined that our government and our political parties no longer represent us and we want a say in which candidates will be on the ballot in the primaries and in November 2010.”  Wright asserted.  The candidates participating on November 19th include three challengers to Congressman James Langevin, Elizabeth Dennigan, Mark Zaccaria, and Michael Gardiner.  Erik Wallin, candidate for RI Attorney General will answer the voter’s questions that night as well as David Bibeault, a representative of the Libertarian Party running for State Senate in District 22, who will discuss the Libertarian Party in RI and his run for office.  For details  E-Mail the Rhode Island Voter Coalition at rivc@gmx.com.

RHODE ISLAND VOTER COALITION ANNOUNCES

“MEET THE CANDIDATES FORUM” on OCTOBER 16, 2009

West Greenwich, RI – The Rhode Island Voter Coalition (RIVC) will host a Meet the Candidates Forum on October 16, 2009 at the Elks Lodge at 42 Nooseneck Hill Rd, West Greenwich, RI from 6 to 10pm.  RIVC is a new group whose mission is to provide a forum which allows for the voters of Rhode Island to vet candidates running for state and federal office, regardless of party affiliations or previous political experience.

RIVC is a non-partisan group of citizens who have determined that our government and our political parties no longer represent us and we want a say in which candidates will be on the ballot in the primaries and in November.

To achieve this goal we will be hosting “Meet the Candidate Forums” throughout the State between now and the election in 2010.  These events will be moderated by members of RIVC and may be of varying formats.  The voters of Rhode Island are encouraged to join RIVC at http://rivcus.ning.com/ or http://myrisc.com/groups/profile/111 .

On October 16th, each candidate will be introduced and then given 10 minutes to discuss their office and platform.  They will then be asked pre-screened questions by the voters of Rhode Island.  The voters can submit their questions to RIVC via our social networking sites listed above.

The candidates scheduled to attend the forum on October 16th are:

Erik Wallin, candidate for RI Attorney General,

Mark Zaccaria, candidate for US House of Representatives, 2nd District,

Joe Trillo, RI House of Representatives (District 24) and,

Moe Green, RI House of Representatives (District 10)

Please contact RIVC at 401-935-7600 if you are a candidate for office and would like to participate in one of our forums.
